Windy weather again. I've been waiting for a blustery opportunity to upload this fantastic Dudley D. Watkins panel from his 11th February 1951 Broons comic page. Last night the gales reached similar cat-hurtling violence but I certainly didn't expect an earthquake to add to the wintry excitement. Its tremor woke me from my slumbers just before 1am. Jings! Whatever next?

Ah, the great Dudley D. Wasn't he the only artist that DC Thompson allowed to sign his work?

Fond memories of The Broons and Oor Wullie from childhood trips to Scarborough and my Auntie's copies of The Sunday Post.

Yep, BB, I think you're right about Dudley D. being allowed to sign his work - quite a concession from what I've heard about DC Thomson's work practices!

I came to the Broons and Oor Wullie quite late, as an adult actually, but they're about the only classic British strip which absorbs me now in the way that comics used to as a child.
